iTunes and iPhone under Win 7 64bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Quick question - I'm currently running the 32bit version of Windows 7, and all is hunky dory. However, I want to try the 64 bit version, but can anyone confirm whether iTunes 64bit and iPhone sync correctly under the 64bit version in Windows 7? If they don't, I shan't bother trying!

    Cheers.

  • Confirmed. Both working 5 by 5. One small thing: Sometimes upon connecting my iphone, iTunes doesn't start automatically, which I now love, because sometimes I don't want to keep syncing once I plug in.

Now, if I'm gonna just charge, I just let it be. If I want to sync, then I fire up iTunes.  I'm using iTunes 8.0.2 and Jailbroken iPhone with 2.2 FW, BTW.

  • It works, however, I see system crashes during Sync of music. ( in this case crash means keyboard and all programs freeze, mouse on touch pad will move cursor, usb mouse does not, keyboard both built-in and external usb are non-responsive, requires power off)  Requires re-boot to safe mode, chdsk, re-boot before system is usable again.  It takes sometimes 2 or 3 cycles of this series to get past issue.  iTunes version 9.0.1.8 + Win RTM.  I have tried with three different iPhone and have same issue on all phones, Apple response is "Win 7 is not supported".  32 bit version of Win 7 RTM does not have problem,  Machine is HP DV95000 Laptop, did not have issue under Vista 64 bit

  • Iphones did not appear in ITUNES for me in 64 bit win 7 until I followed the advice I found at http://forums.techarena.in/guides-tutorials/1168298.htm, basically replacing the iphone driver (which appeared with a camera icon in windows devices but not in itunes at all) using the driver at c:\program files\common files\apple\mobile device support\drivers.

  • Itunes 9 64bit does not work with WIN 7 64bit.  It crashes the OS two or three time daily for me even when my iPhone or iPod is not connected.  I uninstalled the software and all BSODs have stopped.  Now I am waiting for Apple or Microsoft to fix this issue.

  • My issue turned out to be with the nVidia USB hardware/driver.  Eventually, there was a hot fix issued
Namely Windows6.1-KB976972-x64.msu.   The work around was to lower memory to 3 gig, but the hot fix
works well and have not had a single itunes issue since.

DV9500 HP labtop, 4 gig memory, 1T disk space.

I understand there is still an issue with ic7 intel chipset.

  • Confirmed Itunes 9.0.2 the current version won't install on WIN 7 64bit. After several attempts i went to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=47#Download to download an older version. I tried itunes 9.0 (64bit) and it installed perfectly. Connected my iphone and it seems to work just fine.
