Strange dropouts on Azure VMs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are observing a strange behavior on our Azure VMs. It looks like the individual machines (it's not limited to a specific machine) have dropouts at irregular intervals. To test this, we have added a timer log output to our application, in which an entry is written to a log every second. There it can be observed that on the affected machines sometimes no entry is written for several seconds, then it continues normally. The behavior is reproducible. We can exclude network problems. For testing purposes we have created machines with the same CPU / RAM configuration in AWS, where the behavior does not occur.  Our application runs in a Docker Container on a Ubuntu Linux. Does anyone have an idea where we could start?

    Thanks a lot!

    Bert

  • Hello,

Such cases need a long troubleshooting procedure to find the RC :(

My suggestion is to check OS logs, azure Monitoring and from OS itself try to use third party tool to see what's happening exactly "Process, Disk IOPS, Locks,,,etc"

I think if you use Azure Container Instances will help you to reduce the cost and to avoid such issues
