MSCOMCT2.OCX will not register RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can not register a file using run command:

    run
regsvr21 "C:\Windows\System32\MSCOMCT2.OCX"                     i have also tried different OCX files

    Error message is:
The Modules "C:\Windows\System32\MSCOMCT2.OCX" failed to load
Make sure the binary is stored at the speciied path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependant .DLL files
The specified module could not be found.

this is what i get( The module"MSCOMCT2.OCX" may not compatible with the version Windows that you're running
Check if the module is compatible with anx86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe )

  • no problem whatsoever, I only mentioned it because this is the hardware forum, if you have any more issues you might get a response from someone more technical minded on these things in the software forum, atb the top of the page click on where it says "Windows 7 Forums" and choose the software forum, if you search in there , at least for software issues, or post in there it it may be better, also if someone else has the same issue they can likely find it easier, but it don't matter you got it resolved anyways, best of luck
    thanks,

  • Are you sure those files are actually in the folder specified? I checked in my version and it wasn't there.

  • Adam,

Any file in a given user's Sys32 directory may not be present on your machine - that folder is a dynamic driver store, and will be very different from one Windows environment to the next.

    ed,

Can you share with us why you're trying to register MSCOMCT2.OCX? To the best of my knowledge, it was used for Visual Basic prior to .NET, and it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft had removed support for this in Windows 7.

  • It is a developer tool, Microsoft used to include it with Microsoft Office XP Developer as well, but they stopped using it back then. There is an article about this here .

  • This tool MSCOMCT.OCX is required by a program i have installed to manage a game server, the program is wriiten in VB and with out being able to register this OCX file then the program Under Windows 7 is useless. But could this be an error under Win7 or have they blocked it, if its blocked then Win7 will sure to fail as any third party guys out there that keep making great little programs will stop.
