  • I had checked that article. But the reason we don't want to apply those is because same settings are applicable for other upload options and they don't have any issues.

    It is just specific to drag and drop that is not working as expected.

    Thanks,

    Rahul Babar

  • Sorry, this is not a "known issue." I just tested it out and am able to drag and drop a 75mb file into a library.

    At this time I'm not sure what the issue is, but it does work.

  • Hi Rahul.

    Just tested DnD of 79 MB file into SP2013 and it worked fine. I have checked using Fiddler which protocol is used and the request is made by the browser and is regular http. So there is no need to look at WebDAV properties.

    Please check the file extension: is it a blocked extension like exe?
    When I upload a blocked file the error message states it is blocked. Perhaps try to upload a small
    Also check the IIS settings? what is the "Maximum Allowed Content Length"under Request filtering for the web site in IIS Admin? I normally set this to 2147483647 (i.e. 2 GB)
    also make sure the web application's max file size is set to a large value (e.g. 2 GB)

  • Thanks for the response Paul!

    I am still having the issue. We have different SharePoint 2013 environments and issue is not consistent.

    The upload using drag and drop works on one farm but not other.

    Both web applications have same settings.

    <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="51200" requestValidationMode="2.0" executionTimeout="600" />

    If I increase the maxRequestLength to more than 100 MB (105000 for ex), it works fine. But it leaves a question why it works on another farm with request length only 50 MB.

    I hope we could get better explanation for that.

    Also by default application web.config contains entries for UploadEx.aspx page which is used by other upload methods. If I add same entries for Upload.aspx page, drag and drop allows files more that 50 MB.

    <location path="_layouts/UploadEx.aspx">
        <system.web>
          <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="3600" />
        </system.web>
      </location>
      <location path="_layouts/15/UploadEx.aspx">
        <system.web>
          <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="3600" />
        </system.web>
      </location>

    So overall I have an answer why it does not work but would like to have answer for how it works on some web applications with no changes required.

    Thanks,

    Rahul Babar
