telnet port 26 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Guys,

my sbs2011 server uses a fax application and exchange uses pop3. The problem is that the faxapplication doesn't work anymore. reason unknown. I do known that the exchange is configured to use port 26. Now i cannot telnet to port 26. According to the faxsoftware vendor we should make it possible to telnet again on port 2 before they will give support on their application.

anyone that can help? whats with the telnet, why could it have stopped working and houw should i solve it?

  • Also enable logging on the connector

Check that the remote receive IP address ranges are correct too please.

changed the 127.0.0.1 into the servers ip, also working.

checked dns and dns is lissening to 2 stranges number(macaddresses???) and to its own ipaddres.

  • Its a pleasure :-)

Do you have any firewalls that can be blocking port 26?

Have you tried restarting the service? What error do you get when you run the telnet command?

  • Are they allowing you to send mail from that IP?

Please verify with them where they accepting mail from and if you changed the IP at all to include that address or a range of addresses.

What do you mean? Should i send an e-mail from the server? If so, i do recall it should be possible to send an e-mail through the command prompt, but i cannot remember.

Did the telnet from the server btw.
