  • Question

  • Hi there,

does my MDT 2013 with Version 6.2.5019.0 works with Windows 10 TechPrv or do I have to upgrade to another build ?

I tried out to bind it to an new created task-sequence but after applying the WMI/ISO file while installation, the first boot
    failes with:

    NTLDR is missing ...

    Kind regards
    Jens

  • Windows 10 is supported in MDT 2013U1.  If you are in the Windows Insider program you should be able to get the updated ADK and such. Also there are some caveats: http://blogs.technet.com/b/msdeployment/archive/2015/03/28/mdt-updates-for-windows-10-technical-preview-build-10041.aspx

  • I've solved the issue. After uninstallung ADK 8.1 and upgrading MDT to 2013 update 1, the deployment of Win10
    works fine :-)

    Thx for all your support.

    Kind regards

  • After going through the steps on:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/msdeployment/archive/2015/03/28/mdt-updates-for-windows-10-technical-preview-build-10041.aspx

The same issue appears with the "NTLDR is missing ..." error.

  • I am assuming you have rebuilt your boot images, verified your OS source is good etc?

  • Yep. I rebuild the whole MDT and used the new created boot-images from:
    MY_INSTALLSHARE\Boot\

And yes - I've tried to boot a VM with the win10 source image.

Did I something wrong rebuilding the boot-images via "Update Deployment-Share" ?

  • If you are having trouble with the 10041 version of ADK you might want to try 10075 (it was just released).  You no longer have to add the extra files but, you still do need to do the scripts updates as per the blog: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/hardware/dn913721(v=vs8.5).aspx

  • Think I've found the issue - on our DeployServer there is already an adk for 8.1 installed.

So any update on the deployshare uses the wim-file from this adk not from 10.

Do I have to uninstall the adk for Windows 8.1 and rebuild the deployshare to get the right
Boot-Images ? And if yes, works our MDT after that with Server 2008R2/Windows7/Windows 8.1
    without the adk 8.1 ?

Or where do I have to configure the right adk for the deployshare ?
I can't find it in any configuration :-(

    Kind regards
    Jens

  • Side by side ADK versions are unsupported. So yes you will have to remove 8.1 and install 10.

  • Thank you for your reply!

I will give it a try ... but works MDT with uninstalled ADK 8.1 and installed ADK 10 still with Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 ? We were running MDT to deploy our Server 2008 R2 TerminalServerFarm :-)

  • After uinstalling ADK 8.1 the MDT did not start anymore with following error:

I can't find any configuration file where the path to ADK 8.1 is set. While installed ADK 8.1 I searched through
the options of the deployshare. But there is no entry for ADK 8.1 :-(

Do I have to reinstall MDT and reconfigure deployshare after uninstallation of ADK 8.1
