Unable to send e-mail from MOSS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all, I am working on MOSS and following is the infrastructure configuration I am using:

Machine1: Domain Windows Server 2003, Controller installed, Exchange Server installed, Firewall off, relay created for MOSS machine.

Machine2: Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005 installed, MOSS installed, firewall off, Outgoing e-mail configured, SSP configured (initial configuration tasks are done i.e. User profiles have been crawled etc.)

Note: both machine are on the same network.

Issue: I have configured alert on document library.... but MOSS is not sending email.... i checked e-mail using owa and it's working fine.... I created a simple workflow on SharePoint designer which only sends e-mail.... but MOSS is not sending e-mail.

Does any body have any idea what is the cause of issue.... your help in this regards would be heighly appreciated.

  • What does your outgoing email point to in SharePoint? Are you sure that your SMTP is working fine? Also check if you're able to reach your SMTP server.

  • Hi,

Do you have multiple IPs defined for your server?

If yes make sure that all are added into allow relay list
