Project Pro 2007 and 2010 (side0-by-side) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have installed Project Pro 2007 and 2010 side-by-side.  I also have two separate Project Server environments: Project Server 2007 (Production) and 2010 (Test).

After installing Project Pro 2010 on my computer, every time I attempt to open a project from Project Center in Project Server 2007 (browser), it opens Project Pro 2010 (client).

How do I modify which version of Project Pro (client) is executed when opening a project from "Project Center" (browser)?

    Thanks,

    J-F

  • Hi J-F,

Looks like you have both 2007 and 2010 Project Pro installed on you system?

If yes, then default program for mpp is set to 2010, you may need to change that to 2007

  • That's correct, I have both 2007 and 2010 versions of Project Pro installed on my system. I have also manually mapped the .mpp extension to the 2007 version of Project Pro.

When I open a local .mpp file, it opens in Project Pro 2007. However, when opening a project from Project Center in PWA 2007 (browser), it launches Project Pro 2010 client.

Is there a registry key I should look for? Any other ideas?

  • Hi J-F,

Repairing 2007 installation will take of necessary settings. (Easy trick J)

When we install 2010 on top of 2007, default program for mpp is set to 2010, so if we repair 2007, all settings will revert back to original.
