How to create and mount database in External USB HDD RRS feed

    Hi All,

    We are using Exchange 2010 SP1 with windows 2008 R2 Enterprise edittion.

    MB1 & MB2 are mailbox servers configured as DAG. All active databases are in MB1 and copies are in MB2

    I have connected 4TB WD HDD to MB1 server. While creating a new database I put the database and log path pointing to the External USB HDD (i.e database path=M:\test\test.edb & log path =M:\test\). The database was created and it was not mounted since it was not finding the location for creating the database copy.

    Is there any solution to create a database without a database copy in DAG environment?

    Please advice.

    Hi,

    Sure, you just create the database. After creating one database you can then decide whether to create copies or not.

    So there is another reason for the database not mounting. What is the error message you get when trying to mount the database?

    Why would you create a database on a USB disk (pretty sure that this is not a recommended place to store a database)?

    I also suggest you avoid to use External USB HDD.
