Create a custom user group in MS Project RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is there a way to create a user group in MS Project 2007 (using either PWA or the Client) that permits creating and editing schedules, but does not allow you to publish?

    Thanks.

  • Hello

There should be a permission in the project category called "Publish Project".  Uncheck this.

    Cheers!

  • Hi there,

You can't copy a group but you can create a new group then add the same categories then set the global permissions and category permissions using the Set permissions with Template option below each section of permissions.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

Yes, depending on your requirements / current permission model - using the default out of the box permission model, you could edit the Project Managers security group in PWA (server settings > Manage Groups), click on the My Projects category, then uncheck the "Publish Project" category permission. This will prevent PM's publishing their projects.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Paul. Is there a way I can create a new group by copying the project manager security group and then unchecking the "Publish Project" category permission for the new group?
