DPM Agent with MultiHomed NIC RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have 2 production servers, domain-joined, with 2 NICs.  Traffic enters one one NIC and is sent out the other.  This is causing an issue with DPM agent communication.  I can ping both IP addresses and DPM starts the DPMRA service, but the traffic never seems to make it back to DPM.  Does anyone have an idea about how I need to set up DPM to deal with this?  Thanks in advance.

    Best, Jacob I'm a PC.

  • Hi,

If the two NICs have different IPs the easiest thing to try would be to edit the hosts-file on the servers specifying the IP you want the DPM agent to communicate with the DPM-server on. This is usually done through a separate DNS zone for backup data transfer, but in a small environment the hosts file should suffice. You may also want to take a look at the following link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/systemcenter/systemcenter2016/dataprotectionmanager/vlatest/add-dpmbackupnetworkaddress
