Site Links for 2 domain forest

    Question

  • Hello All,

    I have a single Forest with 2 domains.  There are two buildings that contain the Domain Controllers (DC).  The first building contains Domain #1 DC's 1 and 2.  This first building also contains Domain #2 DC 1.  The second building contains Domain #1 DC 3 and Domain #2 DC 2 and 3.  The PDC for each domain is DC 1 and all the defined sites have been setup to include IP subnets.  My question is what should the site links and replication setup be?

    Thanks for you time.

  • Hi,

    Create two separate sites for building #1 and building # 2. Place DC's as follows:

    Site #1: Domain 1 -> DC1 and DC2
             Domain 2 -> DC1

    Site #2: Domain 1 -> DC3
             Domain 2 -> DC2 and DC3

    Create two site links and place DC's as follows:

    Sitelink1-Domain1: DC1,DC2 from site 1 and DC3 from Site 2

    Sitelink2-Domain2: Dc1 from site 1 and DC2,DC3 from site 2

    Create subnets and delete default sites and site links, set the replication schedule for new site links.

    Hope this help.

    / Karim

  • Hi

     First of all you should assign correct subnets to related site DC's.Then dc's will configure replication site partner automatically during promotion process also schedule.And the other important point is you need to configure port accessibility between site's.Check all these articles;
