Emailing ON BEHALF OF an alias email address which has no exchange server attached to it. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an issue/challenge for a user (Exchange 2003 & outlook 2007):

User has his own mailbox and an alias for another email address from a totally different domain (which is not setup with an exchange server) which receives mail fine in his mailbox.

However, he cannot send on behalf of / from that alias email address as there is no exchange server/account for that anywhere on the domain (there is only a recipients policy in exchange to receive from alias email domain).

Is there any way around this ? i've tried setting up a contact... even a new exchange user with the primary address set to the alias one but no joy so far!

The only thing i can think at the moment is to have a POP account setup for that email alias with the other ISP and then configure it into outlook for sending emails from (but i really want to avoid this).

Any help/tips with this would be greatly appreciated.
