using group policy to assign Gagets to users windows 7. RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the past I have used html files as desktop on windows xp computers to broadcast important messages to my students.  Windows 7 does not support html desktop. I am planing to use desktop gadgets to achieve my goals where I can provide customised messages to my students with an option to click on it.   Now my 2 questions are

1- How can I assign gadgets to my students using group policy?

2- Is is possible to edit or tweak gadgets with customised message on it?  /thanks

  • I think the best method of delivery might be the RSS feed reader gadget, so you don't have to configure much beyond pointing it to a feed where you'll post announcements (a SharePoint announcement list has integrated RSS and this is what I use to push info to my users with the gadget).  However I have no experience assigning them the gadget, I just asked them all to use it.
