windows explorer crashes after using firefox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

After using firefox 3.5.2 or even earlier versions, after some browsing sometimes windows explorer crashes if i right click on anything like the backgroud to refresh, or like right now i tried to unzip a program and explorer crashed. I have noticed if i have a few tabs open this happens more frequently, but its still crashes even if its just one tab.

I can open thing and programs, but if i right click on anything explorer crashes, and will only work again until i wait like a few minutes then i am able to right click on things without explorer crashing.

This has also happened after i play world of warcraft and have closed the game if i right click on the backgroud explorer crashes.

here is the last error log of this. this happened after i closed firefox and tried to right click on a file to extract the files.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your post.

Is gigagetbho_v10.dll on your system? Does Giganology have an update to their GigaGet tool? If not, try uninstalling GigaGet to fix the issue.

Here is the link which discuss some more solution on  the issue:

    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_(Firefox)

Hope this helps. However, if issue still persist, please let us know so that we can suggest you further.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Sorry for the late response, but i fixed the issue it wasnt what you said, the file is not even on my computer, it was a simple memory issue.

I only had 1gig of memory and just recently added another 1gig of memory to my system and it no longer crashes at all with the issue i had.

i also upgraded my graphics card, but im still going to go with the low memory issue as firefox is a hog with memory for some reason and more or likely wasnt letting the memory go when i closed firefox and seemed to keep adding more memory eventually taking all of it and crashing the background desktop when i right clicked on it.

Edit* it would take time for the memory to return when i closed firefox when i only had 1gig of memory. strange but problem solved with more memory.

    thanks.
