LifeCam VX-5000 stops working, requires unplug/replug or reboot RRS feed

  • I have a Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 that works just fine after booting my Vista 64-bit OS. After the computer is put to sleep (sometimes once, sometimes many sleep cycles), the camera will not work and once it stops working it must be unplugged and replugged or the computer must be rebooted. It will give messages such as "There is no camera connected". When this happens, it is still visible under Device Manager. If I attempt to disable and re-enable the camera via Device Manager, it comes back with a yellow "!" on the icon. Please advise me on how to prevent this from happening, as it is very irritating to have to unplug and replug the camera most times I want to use it.

  • The error in Device Manager is: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
