On hold music / busy tone RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all Lync server enthusiasts :),

Can you please advise regarding On hold Music versus Busy tone in Lync server 2013?

I have a response group setup in Lync and I cannot differentiate the sounds our customers are hearing when they are placed on hold, from the sounds they hear when all lines are busy.

Can you please help me with a solution/workaround?

  • Hi,

There is no "Busy Tone" in Lync \ Skype for Business.

There are two different files you can choose for your scenario:

    1. The Response Group waiting sound - This can be altered and configured per workflow. This is the sound callers hear when they wait in the Queue.
    2. Music on Hold sound - This can be placed on a file share and used for every time a caller is placed on hold.

Set a music \ announcement file for your work flows; this can be a different file for each workflow.

Set another file for your Hold option.

  • Hi Yoav,

Thanks for answering to my thread.

I am a bit confused as I only found the option for the Reponse group. For the second group are you reffering to Music on Hold setup individually on each computer, or there is a setting in the Lync server (i could not find)?

  • Hi,

You can set Music on Hold at the Client Policy level when calls are parked with the following simple command:

    Set-CSClientPolicy Global -EnableClientMusicOnHold:$TRUE

  • Hi!

Under the Workflow Settings you have 7 Steps to set.

Under Set 3 you can choose your Welcome Message

Under Set 7 you can choose the Music on Hold Sound.
