Takes a long time to deploy virtual app

Question

Hi Guys
I am trying to deploy a v app through sccm and it is taking a long time. i.e. sometimes it says on the downloa window that it can take up to 48 hours? now for the same application i have had diff results.
1. usually takes about 3-4 hours to download 600 m b of data on LAN
2. on one occasion to my surprise this happened in matter of less then 5 min
3. i was trying to deploy the same package yesterday and it was taking a long time... about 30% in 3 hours
now i am confused to what could be causing this.
I think our data transfer method is BITs - (i am new to sccm, so i am not sure if this is setup right) as someone else had this set this up before me.
FYI - we have 3-4 remote sites and we have boundaries set up according to ad sites (i think)
What steps could i take to troubleshoot this issue?
could i upload any logs
which would be useful?
please help all u able guys
i would be very thankfulTuesday, January 12, 2010 8:33 AM

Hi Thanks guys
you all are right
and i have also worked out that it is the bits setting being recieved by the client through sccm,
i have manually edited the reg key (local group policy)
and changed it to disabled intseadof 512 kb (limted_ and the download came down straigt away as obviously it then used all bandwidth and not just the left over avaiable bandwith.
thanks lot once again- Marked as answer by Eric MattoonMicrosoft employee Wednesday, January 13, 2010 3:24 PM

You can configure BITS in the Computer Client Agent settings.

execmgr.log, DataTransferService.log, CAS.log are the logs to start troubleshooting with. You can use trace32 from the ConfigMgr toolkit to display the logs in a readable format.Tuesday, January 12, 2010 9:22 AM

Hi
Are you using any BITS Throttling script to manage data download in SCCM Client?

Hi Torsten
If we use BITS throttling script -depend on LAN/network traffic, BITS throttling script set download speed limit for SMS client.
It seems they are using BITS that means http to download.
