  • Dear Concern,

    we need to harden the infrastructure security and in this context need to disable the following Services on our Server 2008 R2.Please note that these commands / services are present in windows 2003 but we are unable to find them in Windows 2008 R2. Kindly confirm if they are also present in Windows 2008 and steps to disable them.
    1.    rexec
    2.    rlogin
    3.    rsh
    4.    rexecd
    5.    rlogind
    6.    rshd

    "Runs commands on remote computers running the RSH service or daemon. This command has been deprecated. You can install the Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications using the Add Features Wizard. For more information, see Windows Server 2008 UNIX Interoperability Components at the Microsoft Web site. After installation, you can then open a C Shell or Korn Shell command window and run rsh. For more information, type man rsh at the C Shell or Korn Shell prompt."

    It seems that they are deprecated .
