ISATAP not working - I can only ping hosts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi we have DirectAccess setup on our network and the DNS64/Nat64 functionality works very well. We can reach all hosts on our internal network from remote clients.

However when enabling ISATAP (creating the ISATAP DNS record and removing it from the block list) internal hosts then get resolved by their ISATAP address and we can PING them from remote clients, but we cannot reach other resources on the servers like web sites or file shares.

For now we disabled ISATAP to restore functionality but does anyone have a clue what could be causing this?

    thanks

Answers

  • The most common cause of this is if the IPv6 stack on the servers is disabled. If not, check if the servers name resolves to their ISATAP address.
