Starting out developing with Project Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have been trying to lookup information on getting started with Project Server developments, and I don't yet, have experience of using a PSI or Visual Studio. I have some experience of getting data from the databases for reports, but am wondering what the best approach to learn is, easiest way to get started etc? Find the SDK quite hard to use or understand.

  • Hi John,

You're right that using PSI for the first time is quite arduous job. I've written a small sample for using PSI, from there you can get the idea how to access Project Server data via PSI.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi John,

PSI is a bit tricky to handle at first and Kashif has offered you great tutorial. If you want to learn how to use PSI, that's the way.

If you want, you can also use FluentPS library from Codeplex, which has all PSI function calls already set for you, just add library to your project and use it and you don't have to set web services. Description and some examples:
