client deploy fails after win10 feature update RRS feed

  • Question

  • after feature update to 18351.19h1 - release 190301-1611 the client connector for win2012R2 disappeared (as usual with an upgrade) Uninstall and reinstall normally fixes that. Not this time - install starts - prompts for credentials and then bombs out. Server is healthy - serving other Clients just fine.

Client error log shows following .Net runtime error:

  • Hi,

    >[11732] 190322.175900.4887: ClientSetup: No standard user or available dc is found

    >[11732] 190322.175900.4947: ClientSetup: Could not get domain user list, exception: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null….

Based on the log file, problem happens during join client to network. Please check below configuration on the client system:

    1. Open TCP/IPv4 Properties, select the option “Use the following DNS server address”, and manually enter your WSE IP address as Preferred DNS server.
    2. Disable TCP/IPv6 via un-select the option on network’s Properties.
    3. Find local hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc), delete the entries which is not useful.

Besides, on your WSE, please open CMD and using “DCdiag” to check DC health.

  • Hi,

You may try below steps first to clear stable Connector.exe relate files on Windows 10, and try to reconnect to check the result - please back up system and registry before any change:
    1. Open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features, if there is Windows Server Essentials connector displays on the list, please manually select it and uninstall it.

    2. Open Run, type %programdata%\Microsoft\ and end with enter, delete Windows Server folder.

    3. Open Run, type%Windir%\System32 and end with enter, delete Essentials folder.

    4. Open Task Scheduler –Task Scheduler Library – Microsoft – Windows, delete Windows Server Essentials folder.

    5. Open Run, type regedit and end with enter, delete Windows Server registry entry under below location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_Machine – Software - Microsoft

    6. Manually re-start Windows 10 system and try to connect to WSE again to check the result.

If problem persists, please provide below information on problematic Windows 10:
    1. Please open Run, type “winver” and end with enter, provide me the detail OS build number.
    2. ClientDeploy.log andComputerconnector.log under location %programdata%\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs.

    Best Regards,
    Eve Wang
