Problem With Installer or Security Essentials RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot download the following programs JAVA and Examguard... JAVA support said it was not them, it was the installer or something blocking the download.

I cannot update iTunes, Quicktime and Fixit was unable to continue, it encountered an error....

I dropped the firewall and unchecked the User Account - restarted the computer - and download does not complete.

I believe it has something to do with Microsoft Security Essentials.  My O/S Vista Sp3

  • For Windows Installer, please update it and check if this solve your problem.

If you suspect that the problem is due to Microsoft Security Essentials; please disable it, install / update your applications and then re-enable it.

  • What I have done:

I had to uninstalled iTunes - and reinstalled that - so I am good.

I turned off Security Essentials and was able to use Examguard.

I cannot download JAVA at all, with the Security Essentials dropped.

Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu << that is the only update I see and when I run it - the message says it does not apply to my system, which is Vista Home Premium SP2...

  • Hi,

If Windows installer is corrupted, you can't install any software including iTunes. But it was installed now. This indicates the Windows installer itself is fine. Could you please tell us the error message during installing JAVA. It is probably a corrupted registry value of Java program remaining. We need to involve Java support to find out the registry, remove it so that the Java program can installed.

    Regards,

  • The JAVA installer stops... and nothing else comes up.....

when I check in Programs to see the following Application but Set-up says Partial...

I went to the event viewer for the time specified...

    Error Code 10016 >>>

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    {C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1}

to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

when I went to this site but everything looks in order >>> http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/windows-server-2008-event-id-10016-com-security-policy-configuration.aspx

and Error Code 100 >>>Client Virtualization Handler

Information only. Cannot connect to local SoftGrid client. [SoftGrid Error: 0x000000000000000d in Module: User Library, File: userinfo.cpp:88]

    and Error Code 7022

The Client Virtualization Handler service hung on starting.

The error code says it only applies to Windows 2008

Advise if I need to go back to JAVA support as I allowed remote control over my system and went into the registry...
