Sound on virtual machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, specialists,

I want to use sound, spec. Midimapper, for training/creating music scores on my virtual machines with Win7 and Win8, but there is no sounddevice on vm.
The Server, MS Windows Server 2012, has a Creative soundcard, which works fine. The remoteaudio doesn't help. I use Hyper-V and VMM.

Knows anyone a solution of the problem?

  • You must use an RDP connection to connect to the VM and enable the sound device passthrough in the RDP connection when you open it.

But, this passes the sound device of the VM to you, the VM cannot use the physical sound card of a hypervisor.  Sound cards are not virtualized like GPU is on a video card.
