Location profile without DDI RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having trouble setting up the location profile for my organisation.

Trying to use enterprise voice and get integration with our Cisco CME based phone system, however we only have one external telephone number for the department. From what I have read, when you setup the location profile you have to setup a translation between internal extension numbers and external phone numbers (i.e. ext 1201 is 020 711 1201) however what happens when you dont have an external number to map internal numbers to?

On a side note, does anyone know of any step by steps or how-to's for OCS? The MS documentation is really poor when it comes to new users to the technology trying to set things up for the first time.

  • I assume by no external number to map with you are talking about inbound calls. In this case you could setup the users account with a dummy number, as you can't dial from outside it doesn't matter.

More elegantly you can use the format +44207111201;ext=1234 where 1234 is the persons internal extension number.

I don't believe there is a single source for how to's that answer all the questions. When it comes to voice configuration the best source of information is the Microsoft Voice Ignite training. Generally other than setting up labs and testing you are best to involve a MS voice partner due to the complexity in a lot of companies voice requirements.
