Lync mobility - Skype for business clients display users as contact without IM prescence RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

while testing out the mobility feature of skype for business client, i observe that some users profiles are appearing as just contacts with phone numbers without IM features on their profiles.

Is there something missing from these users presence attributes that could be affecting the way they are being displayed on the mobile clients

  • Hi Tjmike1,

    Thanks for your response.

As Raju suggested, did you try to check if you have set the RP correctly ?

What’s the product of your reverse proxy?

Please make sure the connection between FE and RP is fine.

You could also try to use Microsoft remote connectivity analyzer to test if there is any issue

    Hope this helpful to you.

All replies

  • Looks some configuration issues with device itself.

    1. when you enter username/Password/SIPAddress details  and click to connect it will try to signin - if that fails could be credentials or server reach ability issues with User.

    2. after login if the client does not display proper icons for IM the user it could be negotiation issues between RP and FE

    3. if its only displaying partial values, i suggest it could be device specific try it on Andriod/Windows for test case - if its happening with all devices could be User config setting issues at server side.

    hope this helps

  • Hi Tjmike1,

Welcome to post in our forum.

    Agree with Raju.

Would you please tell us did the issue only appeared on the specific SFB mobile client, did you test with another mobile device?

When you use SFB desktop client, is that the same issue ?

If the issue only appeared on the specific client, please try to reinstall SFB mobile client with the latest update and test again.

If all users have the issue, please try to update the SFB BE by using the command line “Update-CsUserDatabase”, then make sure the CMS has the latest update.

You could also try to set SFB client policy parameter "AddressBookAvailability" to the value of WebSearchOnly, then SFB client will search the address book from BE database directly.

Hope this reply helpful to you.

  • Thanks Rajukb.

However, this is happening on all devices, IOS, Android, Windows, Blackberry for some specific accounts. Like you propose, i suspect User config setting issues at server side.

What specific details can i look out for in the users details

  • Hi Alice,

The issue is not specific to some SFB mobile clients. This was test on several other SFB mobile clients and same sets of users have their contacts details not complete

When using the SFB desktop the issue does not happen

  • Hi ,

Was it specific to Android /IOS devices. Did you also tried uninstalling  the product and reinstalling that again and then gave a try, as  we need to test from a fresh installation as well. Also make sure that the CU  is updated in the server end as well
