ADR error 0x87D20417 Auto Deployment Rule download failed RRS feed

  • Question

    1. Updates are downloaded and I can see the contents in \ \{server}\UpdateServicesPackages inside a directory called {update ID}
    2. When the ADR executes a temp directory {update ID}.1 is created in the Package Source directory
    3. The ADR fails with error 0x87D20417

    The ruleengine.log contains the following:

    Failed to download the update from UNC content source. Error = 3 SMS_RULE_ENGINE 18/05/2016 10:11:33 26452 (0x6754)

    The ADR succeeds if:

    1. The download location is set to the internet e.g. Microsoft or Adobe
    2. The download location is specifically pointed to \ \{server}\UpdateServicesPackages\{UpdateID}

    Of course, not all updates from SCUP can be found via 1 and if there are many updates for the ADR (e.g. Microsoft) then 2 is impractical.

    Any ideas?

  • Are you having issues with only updates published via SCUP or with Microsoft updates from the WSUS catalog as well?

    Is the the above log snippet above for scenario 1 or scenario 2?

    For scenario 2, how did the content get to this location?

  • Dear Sir,

        Error code=3 means the system cannot find the path specified. So what download location you specified when you got this error message?

    Best regards,

    Jimmy
