List migrations in WSS3.0 SP2 from English language to French language RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In WSS 3.0 SP2, I created a site in English language.

This site contains near about 8 to 10 lists and 3 webparts associated with that 8 lists.

I also created a blank French site in French language.

Can any one tell me that how I would get all those lists and webparts from English site to French site?

    Thanks & Regards

  • Hi Shrikant,

You can use codeplex content deployment tool to transfer lists from English to French Site

Here is the link where you can download the tool

    http://spdeploymentwizard.codeplex.com/

And to export Web Parts you can directly choose Export option when you click Modify web part option

One more option for list / libraries

Save list / Lib as a template with content and download it on your local machine

Upload it on destination site in List Templates and create another List / Lib from that template

    Hope this helps

  • Hi Pratik,

    Nice meeting you.

First of all thanks for your help.

This tool is same behave like, if we tried with SP Deigner.

I tried this but this solution is not give me perfect result.I tried to export from source(English) site and import into destination(French) site, but as I found that the importing is only possible for same languages(Eng-Eng) or (Frn-Frn) etc...

    Any ways.

  • Hi,

According to your description, I suggest that you should plan to deploy multilingual site:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff627856.aspx
In additional, you also can change the language of an existing SharePoint site:
    http://vspug.com/mirjam/2008/04/29/changing-the-language-of-an-existing-sharepoint-site
    That would not migrate list.

I hope it can help you a little.
    Best regards,
    David Hu
