Windows 7 Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm currently administering a mixed O/S network and in the process of performing a program upgrade.  This program is our order management software, and installs cleanly on our older machines, no issues that are unexpected.  The exception is on our 2 Windows 7 machines, both of these machines cause major problems, one corrupted our DB when installation was complete. We rolled that machine and our DB back to their previous settings.  I believe we have figured that issue out. The other machine installs the software and operates normally under Admin credentials, but when tried under a User account, the program is not allowed to connect to the DB.  We have troubleshot and tried to force a connection by disabling the Windows firewall, defender, AV, as well as giving the user full Admin control of the program, and folder. We have also added said program to the Trusted Programs list.  Still no joy.  The error that pops up when tried to run, declares that the program cannot connect to the DB, and asks for the Admin account password, but will not allow it to be entered.  We have already checked with the Software developers and found that we are using the correct software compatible version, and ODBC connection, by all accounts it should be working.   Is there some other security setting that we are missing, or that may not be configured properly?  Please help.

  • This does not look like an app compat issues - However the issue seems to be with the user with which your trying to connect not having the proper permission at the server/db level.
