Interactive Logon Process Initialization has failed - Event ID 4005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed Bitdefender recently, and it found a virus, prompted me to delete or quarantine the file or something similar. Somehow, after I restarted my computer... The whole thing was f***ed up.

A black screen pops out saying "Interactive Logon Process Initialization has failed", and every time I click close, it just pops out again and again, refusing to load my Windows 7, 32bit. Safe mode didn't work, everything else was pointless at the point. I have no idea what file did Bitdefender deleted. I managed to copy the log file though.

  • All that really tells is that some file was not found.  Perhaps, BitDefender removed some Windows component, as you suspected.

If you've tried all the recovery options, and can't boot into safe mode or last known good configuration, it seems you may be left restoring from a system image backup, or performing a reinstall/repair install of Windows.
