Error code 80243004 during Windows Update RRS feed

    KB 2837515

    Windows Update fails with error 0x80243004 or 80243004

    We are getting an error referencing the above KB article on several of our client machines and I am looking for the right GPO to modify to show the Windows Update notification icon.  The resolution references the manual client fix, which works, but because this is happening on so many machines, I believe the correct solution is to resolve this via GPO.

    The one GPO that looks like it has a remote possibility of affecting us like so is...

    User Config > Admin Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Turn off notification area cleanup

    Ideas?

    Hi Ghettoblaster007,

    Yes this group policy (User Config > Admin Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Turn off notification area cleanup Ideas)is used to configure the notifications.

    We also could configure a GPP to modify the registry keys.
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
    new REG_DWORD named "EnableAutoTray" with value "0" to show all, "1" to hide them.
