Codec for Windows Media Player 11 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

does anyone know where I can get hold of a codex for  Windows Media Player 11 running on XP SP3, that will allow it to play H264 encoding.

The codec must be distributable for free in a corporate environment and not include any toolbars, alternative media players, etc.

I know that we could just use another media player like VLC, but the powers that be have decided we must use Windows Media Player.

    Cheers

    Mr P

  • You can download codex packs from Microsoft but even then it may not work, we had a similar issue and in the end we just went and used vlc player. I'm afraid that the powers be need to understand that vlc is possibly the only way to go. Even after downloading and installing virtually every codex pack for media player and their are still some files that media player just wont play that vlc will.
