Project 2010 saving as Project 2000 - 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • What would make MS Project 2010 want to save in 2000 - 2003 format?

Under: File-> Options -> Save -> Save files in this format: The options are disabled and stuck on Microsoft Project 2000 - 2003

    Thank you for your help!

  • Nirvana, Check out the settings under File Tab -> Options -> Save. There you can select the formats and locations for saving project files.

Somewhere in the deep recesses of my brain, I vaguely remember someone else who had a similar problem.  You might ask the user to try the following to solve the problem:
    1. Launch Project 2010 and connect to Project Server.
    2. Click File > Info > Manage Accounts > Configure Accounts.
    3. In the Project Server Accounts dialog, make sure that the Project Server login account is set as the default account.  If not, select the Project Server account and click the Set as Account button.
    4. Also, select the Choose An Account option in the lower left corner of the dialog.
    5. Click the OK button and then click the Exit button in the Backstage.
    6. Launch Project 2010 and connect to Project Server again.
    7. Click File > Options > Save.
    8. If the options are no longer grayed out in the Save Projects section of the Save page, change the Save Files in this Format pick list to the Project ((*.mpp) file type and click the OK button.
    9. Click the Exit button in the Backstage.
    10. Launch Project 2010 and connect to Project Server again.
    11. Click File > Save to make sure the you can save the file to the Project Server database.
Please let us know if this helps.

  • It is not connected to a Project Server. I'm going to uninstall/re-install. When I do that, are there any hidden files or folders I need to delete? I want a clean installation.

    Thank you for the support.

  • Hi there,

Do you have any group policies on the Active Directory domain to force the save as option to 2000 - 2003 format? You might need to ask your network admin.

    Thanks
