failed validation and will be excluded from the result set. Set event logging level for Validation category to Expert to get additional events about each failure. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm getting this warning.  The only thing I could find to do was set logging to expert.

I did this by modifying the registry.

    Now what??????

Exhcange 2010, windows 2008R2....single server for Exchange....recently demoted a domain controller, don't know if that relates at all....only a warning, doesn't seem to be causing problems....yet.

  • The object has some attribute in format not supported by Exchange or does not contain a valid value. You can do 2 things either check this object in ADSIEDIT Manually and see if you see any value with value delete init or refrence of server no longer there but you need to understand what the values usually should be.

Second option as pointed by error is increase the diagnostics logging which will tell you what attribute on this obejct is not in right format. You need to use the command set-eventloglevel and use the category validation and level to expert

    CN=SMTP (LLC3-{88120695-204E-4ABE-A753-BF5C7A3EC5A4}),CN=Connections,CN=LLC,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=LLC,DC=LOCAL read from Server1.LLC.LOCAL

  • I used regedit to set the General word in MSExchange ADAccess/Diagnositcs to 5, seemed easier.

Then what? Where do I find this enhanced log file?

  • Wow.....SP1 didn't like a whole lot of stuff...

    No Ldifde.exe.

Should I install Ldifde.exe on this server or run the SP from a domain controller.

This computer requires Office 2010 Filter Packs.

Do I need to install those?

Setup cannot detect an SMTP or Send connector with address space of 'x'.  Mail flow to the Internet may not work properly.

    ???

Oh....and I can't close the Exc Mgmt Console due to the IE9 bug......

  • You need to install all the prereqs as instrcuted, you only got 1 DC, I assume that is a GC too. Make sure you the account you run with has ent scheme rights and make sure it's a domain admin too.

Most of the web articles describe this as an Exchange 2007 problem.  Do I have to do something about it.  I've never had problems with mail to this point.
