GPO Where is it applied RRS feed

  • Question

  • OK, I joined a team who were then removed and I have a mix of stuff to deal with but the GPO's are a mess and I spend ages trouble shooting the thing......is there any way of searching for what policy does a certain thing without sifting through all the policies?

We run 2008 DC's and some 2003 members running apps, the clients are 2007 enterprise.

  • There is no way to acomplish that. You will have to go through all the policies.

If the policies are very messy it is easier just to take a step back, decide what should be applied to each of the OUs and create new policies from the scratch to replace the current environment.

It is also a good idea to use AGPM if your licencing agreement includes Software Assurance. AGPM will create change control and a workflow to create, test and deploy GPOs with the posibility to roll back if something goes wrong.
