    my beta installation was 32 bit beta professional plus

    I did the following with perfect success hope this saves someone else some time

    I think we might have a solution:

    1.) Start menu --> Run... --> regedit
    2.) Search for this registry key (you might want to right click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Find..., and type 4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 into the box):

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    3.) Look for UpperFilters, which is of type REG_MULTI_SZ
    4.) Double-click on it, and under Value data, add "PartMgr" to the top of the list.  Click OK.
    5.) Restart your computer.
    6.) Start Word (or any Office application), and follow the prompts to activate.

  • For several months I have sought the grail.  It seems there is no help-  Or none I can find- I have called to no avail- I have searched diligently and followed every Microsoft instruction to no avail- It is 4:13 in the morning and I have uninstalled and reinstalled thinking I did not get my activation done quickly enough. . So many attempts to activate gone bad.

    One has to wonder what the Microsoft has in mind hear.  Is this Beta a legitimate product test, or a cynical a sales ploy.

    More interest is paid to my son's war game indoctrination than taking care of the core.  At this point I am concluding that it is another potentially beneficial corporation gone to the dark side-  Bill has found his father to be, he who should not be mentioned.

    Perhaps enough banter in this forum would get notice and a definitive answer to the question-  What is the point of wasting so much of your customers time Microsoft?

  • Hi,

    Which version (Professional Plus or Home & Business) do you use?

    If you have already downloaded Office Professional Plus  2010 Beta, you can activate the installation immediately by using the relevant MAK license key listed below.

    Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta   22HGX-728MX-BBWX9-7BB8X-J96B4

    and if you have already downloaded Office Home & Business 2010 Beta, you can activate it by this key.

    Office Home & Business 2010 Beta   8YHHG-WG8BD-2XBHX-92CG4-GK3HP

    If these two keys are both not invalid, you will have to re-registered and get the new one.

  • I know it's beta software, but when you release it to tech pros, one would think that being able to activate the product with a copy and paste key from MSDN would work.  This is disappointing.  I shouldn't have to hack the reg to get it to work, which by the way I have version Pro Plus build 4536 64bit on a windows 7 machine.  I also get the error that it is not a valid key.  Help me understand why this needs to be so difficult.

    Try one of the keys here http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/ru/activation.aspx?LCID=1049&MSG=1&PID=02260-018-0000106-48787

    Sorry about proposing the above as the answer, hit the wrong button.  The above link fixed my issue, but I do find it seriously disappointing that the MSDN keys provided do not work, there also seems to be a bug in that after you enter the keys at from the site you have to close and reopen office in order for it to acknowledge the valid key, because it does not update after you enter it.  :-(
