TFS 2013 MP - SOAP calls RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am researching issues we are having with the TFS 2013 MP.  We are in the process of upgrading from 2010 to 2013 and at that time want to also start using SCOM to monitor it.

    I had some problems with the initial discover but that seemed to fix it self with time.  But while I was troubleshooting that I noticed that the VBS scripts that run don't seem to collect the correct data.

    For example the AuthorizationMonitorScript.vbs is reporting back an error.  When I turn output on and run it manually I can see that the project guid is all zeros.

    Since this script references data on the internet

    'Call TraceLogMessage("Create SOAP Envelope")
    ' Create the soapEnvelope as a string body
        soapStr = soapStr & "<?xml version=""1.0"" encoding=""utf-8""?>" & vbCrLf
        soapStr = soapStr & "<soap:Envelope "
        soapStr = soapStr & "  xmlns:xsi=""http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"""
        soapStr = soapStr & "  xmlns:xsd=""http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"""
        soapStr = soapStr & "  xmlns:soap=""http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"">"
        soapStr = soapStr & vbCrLf
        soapStr = soapStr & "   <soap:Body>" & vbCrLf
        soapStr = soapStr & "   <ListObjectClasses xmlns=""http://schemas.microsoft.com/TeamFoundation/2005/06/Services/Authorization/03"" /> "
        soapStr = soapStr & vbCrLf
        soapStr = soapStr & "   </soap:Body>" & vbCrLf
        soapStr = soapStr & " </soap:Envelope>" & vbCrLf

    does my AT need access to these URLs for the SOAP calls to work?  If so is there a way to change the script to have this needed data without going to the internet? I don't know anything about SOAP calls.

    I ran this script on a dev machine that has internet access and it did grab the project guid.

  • Hi,

    As far as I know there is a SCOM management pack for TFS 2013, we may download it and import it to our management group  and use it to monitor TFS 2013.

    SCOM Management Pack for Team Foundation Server 2013

    Please go through the management pack guide to learn more about the management pack and its configuration suggestions.
