  • Question

  • I imported a video from my cellphone into Media Player but when it plays back, the video is present but not the audio. The file is in .mp4 format and I'm running Media Player version 12.

  • I downloaded FFDShow and this worked. In fact, I converted a number of other video files and there are playing also.

    Thank You

  • Download and install FFDShow and recheck the issue.

You may also try GSpot to find out what audio codec is there in the file.

  • Hi,

I agree with S.Sengupta. Mp4 is a container. An mp4 file can have an mpeg2 video codec and an ac-3 audio
codec inside which WMP12 cannot play unless there's a codec pack inside.

Also you could import another video for test.
