default settings for windows defender in windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows defender will not start. I don't know why it stopped working  but I haven't been able to start it for a week now. When I try to start it I get a message:  Windows could not start the Windows Defender service on Local Computer.  Error 2: The system could not find the file specified.

  • Hi,

Are you able to open Windows Defender program on the computer?

If yes, what exactly happens when you turn it ON from its user interface? Do you get any error message?

Have you tried to run Windows Defender as Administrator?
