Project Online - Sync to Outlook feature has been removed / deprecated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi support

After a bit of searching on why the "Sync to Outlook" icon was greyed out in Project online, I uncovered the following KB article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2998445 - which states under the "More Information" section at the bottom of the document

The Tasks menu option has been removed from SharePoint Online. Additionally, the Sync to Outlook button on the personal site Tasks page is no longer available. The button may be present in the ribbon but the control is unavailable and doesn't function.

The personal Tasks page will also continue to be available for one year following the announcement that was made on September 4, 2014. After that time, this functionality will be removed and will no longer be available or supported

My question is, what is the new method of syncing Project Online Tasks with my Exchange Online account, now that the Sync to Outlook button is no longer available?

    Kind regards.

  • Courtenay,

Unfortunately, Microsoft has not provided an equivalent plan or mechanism for syncing tasks. The closest the comes is the future roadmap where the recently acquired WunderList is going to be one stop shop for all tasks from project Online, planner and so on.
