Booting Windows XP Home Edition RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to start my laptop but it won't boot correctly. I have even gone in and changed the BIOS setings so that the CDROM Drive would load first...reason being I have purchased a copy of Windows XP Professional with SP3. It also won't boot via LAN. The original settings had it starting via HDD and it won't boot that way either. Every time I try a different way of booting or just try and start Windows, the laptop always brings it back to the...

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.........etc" and then it gives me the different options of how I would like to start Windows:

    Safe Mode

    Safe Mode with Networking

    Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

    Start Windows Normally

I have tried all these options countless times and they all bring me back to this identical message. Windows never loads. All I need to know how to do is boot Windows and then I believe installing Windows XP Pro will fix any OS or Software problem.

If anyone can help, it would be SOOOO much appreciated.
