  • Hi,

What's the account type? Exchange, POP or IMAP?

For Exchange account, do you have cached Exchange mode enabled?

This issue normally is related with data files corruption. Please try repairing Outlook data files to see the results.

    >>also the search indexes keeps reset and re index all the time.

    Do you receive error messages?

We could restart the Windows Search from the Windows services. Follow the steps:

    1. Click on Start ->All Programs.

    2. Go to Accessories -> Click on RUN.

    3. Type services.msc -> Click OK.

    4. Double-click on the Windows Search key.

    5. In the General tab, -> go to Startup Type.

    6. Set the value to Disabled -> Click Stop to disable the services.

    7. Click OK and apply the settings.

Follow the same steps given above and set the value to Automatic and Start the Windows Search service.

Hope this is helpful to you. Any updates, please feel free to tell me.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Hello Absheh,

'Microsoft Outlook Search is not working' is one of the common issue seen in all versions of Outlook. Follow the steps suggested by moderator ‘Perry Pan’ if your account type is Exchange.

Since you haven’t mentioned the Outlook version you are using, refer the answers suggested in the similar discussion in the following link for Outlook 2007 version:
    https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29094235/Outlook-2007-Instant-Search-Not-Working.html?notificationFollowed=206321184

For more information about how to get rid of Outlook PST Indexing error in Outlook 2010 and 2013 versions, refer to the following article: http://www.msoutlookware.com/error/outlook-pst-indexing-not-working.html

Hope this will resolve the Search index issue in your Outlook account. And if you are having Outlook 2016 version, refer to the blog suggested by Lindsey_Smith above.

  • Hi,

What's the detailed version of Office and Windows?

What's the account type? Exchange, POP or IMAP?

For Exchange account, do you have cached Exchange mode enabled?

As far as I know, recently, there are some known issues regarding instant searching. Please refer to the following links to see if this is the case for you.

No search results for POP, IMAP, or Exchange accounts

Search, MailTips, and Free/Busy do not work for some Office 365 users

Hope this is helpful to you.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Hi,

Please try manually rebuilding index to check the result. To do this, please go to Control Pane > Indexing Options > Advanced > Rebuild.

Besides, if we switch to online mode, will issue continue?

Currently, I haven't found any official articles regarding search issue on Outlook 2016(16.0.4639.1000). I noticed that a new version was released on May. You could install the newest updates to see if there are any improvements. Please refer to this link.

    Regards,

    Perry
