MAP 9.1 install failure. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Server 2008 STD SP2 64-bit with SQL Server 2008 R2 already installed. I created the  MAPS instance with the correct collation. I had a Maps 8.5 but it would error out when it could not find SQL Express localdb install software. I downloaded MAPS 9.1 but it also fails to install. I have snipped what I feel may be the only relevant part of the log.

Please advise what is preventing MAP 9.1 from installing?

  • The supported operating systems for installing MAP are Windows 7 SP1/Windows 2008 R2 SP1 or newer. MAP requires some custom actions to take place during install which the MSI is unable to do on Server 2008/Vista, that is why the install fails.

  • Did you have Service Pack 1 installed on the Server 2008 R2 machine?
