  • I'll put this in the form of a question

Can the size of the Audit Log be trimmed by using the following command     stsadm -o trimauditlog ?

Repeating a non question in a second post doesn't make it a question,

  • You are right.  Its the right command to trim the audit logs.  Please refer the documentation/syntax at this Technet article:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc706879(office.12).aspx

    Example from above link:
Your audit log is growing too fast and you want to trim some entries from it. To specify a date of July 4, 2008, and the content database name WSSContent123456, you would use the following syntax:

    stsadm -o trimauditlog –date 20080704 –databasename WSSContent123456

Let me also point out that I have seen another blog post, which indicates that this command will be available on your SharePoint server after you have installed the Infrastructure Update.  Refer this link for details:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/subhajitc/archive/2009/05/20/tip-the-untold-story-of-audit-logs-in-sharepoint.aspx

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi,

The audit logs trimmed based on the dates and not size by the command

    STSADM -o trimauditlog.

    Refer this link

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc706879(office.12).aspx

I hope this will help you out.
