Prevent Windows 7 (enterprise) from resizing task bar when switching between aero and non-aero mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have several apps that trigger W7Enterprise to switch between aero and non-aero basic theme when I run them.  That's all fine and well, but when it does this, it resizes the task bar, which I have docked vertically on the right hand side of the screen.  It is not locked, and it is set to Auto Hide.   It shrinks it.  Is this a bug?  Is there a way to prevent this?

  • Hi,

Based on my research, the location and size would not be change when you change theme, even disable or enable the Theme service. I suspect this behavior is caused by some third party software.

Please check this problem in Clean Boot:

Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG.

Also please ensure the applications support Windows 7. If not, update the applications first.

  • Nay.  that does not resolve my problem.  I still find my task bar being resized when locked, and then I have a multi step process to resize it.

Dissapointed that someone with such a bloated tag line wouldn't validate an assertion being made.
