Configuring BS.ini DefaultGateway Settings for VLAN's RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    I look after 9 school networks. Each network has it's own IP ranges, used to split up departments into various VLANs.  All the machines in a location share the same first 2 octets in their IP address. So a location might use 10.100 with each VLAN identified by the third octet.

    My question is regarding Bootstrap.ini.  Here are my current settings. I have shortened the actual BS.ini for brevity.

    [Settings]
    Priority=DefaultGateway,Default

    [DefaultGateway]
    10.101.1.1=School1
    10.101.2.1=School1
    10.101.3.1=School1
    10.102.1.1=School2
    10.102.2.1=School2
    10.102.3.1=School2

    [School1]
    DeployRoot=\\10.101.18.61\DeploymentShare$ (18 is the server VLAN).

    [School2]
    DeployRoot=\\10.102.18.61\DeploymentShare$

    My question is this - Can the addresses under DefaultGateway be shortened to the first two octets, so that I don't have to enter every single IP range for every school? And if yes, what is the correct format for each entry.

    Thanks

  • It needs to be the full gateway IP address. The way you have it is the way it should be.

  • Hi Dan

    Thanks for replying.  I thought it would be, but didn't want to give it up without at least asking.

    Thanks
