How to enable Windows Admin Center for smart card on Server 2019 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've installed Windows Admin Center on a Server 2019 server.  How do I enable it to use smart card credentials?  When I use chrome to connect to the WAC on the server it only prompts for username and password.

  • Hi,

You should enforce smartcard authentication by specifying an additional required group for smartcard-based security groups.

Once you have added a smartcard-based security group, a user can only access the Windows Admin Center service if they are a member of any security group AND a smartcard group included in the users list.

    Reference link:

    Thanks,

    Jenny

  • I'll confirm, although that's the process I followed and Chrome still prompts for a user name and password.

  • Thanks, I had specified the domain group in the access tab but didn't notate it as domain\group name

Now when opening the WAC it doesn't prompt for credentials.

    Thanks!
