Undo Operations That Cause Connection to be Read-Only RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,  I am painfully aware of the issues listed in this sister post regarding making data model changes and causing the Power Query query to become read only:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/9399c888-aaaf-4908-a665-6bd8007d20a1/modification-to-power-query-results-in-power-pivot-error-upon-refresh?forum=powerquery

My question is this.  If operations to the data model cause the connection to be read only, if I undo these operations, will the connection work again or is it that once the damage is done, your done for

  • Hi kaletm,

Unfortunately once the connection has become read-only there is no way to get back to a good state (unless you had a previously saved version of the workbook that you can go back to).

As mentioned in the "sister" post, we understand the urgency of fixing this issue and are working with the Excel and PowerPivot teams to address it. We are truly sorry about the inconvenience that this issue is causing to you (and several other users).

    Regards,
    M.
