exclude sql datafiles from protection ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • hello..

in my sql environment I setup DPM protection for SQL server. But server act as fileserver too.

When I exclude physical sql server datafiles (quite huge) from DPM filesystem protection to save disk space, SQL protection will stay in correct state to restore databases in future ?

In other words: Is DPM SQL protection fully independent from DPM filesystem protection ?

    thank you.

  • Hi,

in your case saving SQL datafiles wouldn't be helpful because you configured SQL's protection. From DPM Console you will have the option to restore the SQL DBs directly from the SQL Protection Group. Doing you'll save time and disk space on your DPM server.

In other words: DPM SQL Protection is fully independant from DPM filesystem protection.
