Windows 10: Intel R Network adaptor not present on this computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All

So I have an odd problem. I recently had to reformat my computer because it somehow lost one of my devices. My computer came with Windows 10. After a whole lot of trying everything I decided to just go buy installation discs for Windows 10 enterprise. PS: I did not get a driver and utilities disc with it. I tried to connect to the internet but it came up with an error saying I had no drivers installed. So I downloaded WinPRO32 and tried to install it. It then told me that I have no IntelR adapter on the computer. I have looked everywhere I can think of, including trying to ghost it from another computer. My System Information says that my adapter name is WAN Miniport (SSTP), no type listed and it says that it is installed. Apparently it is not working. So how do I fix this? Please remember I cannot connect to the internet so telling me to use a driver scan or whatever is not going to work. I need a driver that can be downloaded onto a USB and installed without connecting to the net.

  • 1. Primarily use Windows 10 driver from motherboard vendor if network card is integrated on motherboard. If you have network card that is not integrated, use driver from card vendor.  Last attempt is based on driver from network card chip vendor, in this case Intel. If nothing helps, ask Intel support/forum. And if really nothing from above helps then buy compatible network card.

From Vista time there is useful trobleshooting procedures

    2. Some relevant data may be taken from Device Manager and analyze device in more detailes

  • Hi,

WAN Miniport (SSTP) is a virtual network adapter which is responsible for VPN connection. And we might not provide download link since this device is not hosted by Microsoft.

Visit your device manufacturers website, they will (might already) release firmware/driver program successively.

For many devices, drivers will be automatically installed in Windows 10 and there will be no need for additional action.

For some devices, Windows 10 may be unable to install drivers that are required for operation. If your device drivers are not automatically installed, visit the manufacturer’s support website for your device to download and manually install the drivers. If Windows 10 drivers are not available, the most up-to-date drivers for Windows 8.1 will often work in Windows 10.

For some devices, the manufacturer may provide more up-to-date drivers or drivers that enable additional functionality than the drivers installed by Windows 10. Always follow the recommendations of the device manufacturer for optimal performance and stability.

If you cannot find any working driver or firmware. Please report it to us.

The Windows Compatibility Center is a community generated database of compatibility information. You can look up your device or application there to see if other users have reported the device or app to be compatible or not. You can also provide feedback and rate the compatibility of apps or devices to help answer the questions of other users of Windows.
